Physical Description

Rounded lock plate with double line engraved border set into and attached by two screws. Engraved in front of missing cock with a crowned GR and stamped on the tail TOWER.

Stocked to 4.2 inches of muzzle, terminating in brass fore-end cap. Barrel attached by three pins and the tang screw. Bras furniture. Long upper trumpet shaped ramrod pipe, the two lower pipes of barrel form. Tailpipe with long ogee curved tang. Typical short land pattern trigger guard with a sling loop through the front of the guard. The upper sling loop missing. Butt plate attached to two screws and stamped with the number three, the tang being untypical with two steps instead of the normal short land pattern’s one. Standard escutcheon plate engraved A over 1. Flat side plate set into side flat which is stamped H N. Rammer missing.

Full round barrel with a moulded breech and square ended tang. Engraved near the breech VI OR INNSKILLG DRS and stamped with the initials HN of Henry Nock and with the Board of Ordnance Private proof marks. Raised block foresight at muzzle. This weapon has private proof marks which is an unusual feature on a weapon intended for regular service.
