Physical Description

Steel bow of rectangular section with makers mark stamped on inner side, set in a stock and secured by a bridle of cord ornamented with tassels which passes througha stout ring at the fore-end. Bow string of twisted cord. Wooden stock with strips of bone inlay on underside, bone butt plate and top piece, engraved with single lines. Cheek piece towards the butt, above which on bone is engraved in script the name 'Eberlein'. Brass backsight of folding type, bone foresight. Pivoted steel catch to hold string with locking mechanism in form of wing nut on underside. Long lever type trigger of steel with cord grip decorated with pommels. Part of lock plate missing. Spanned by bending lever.

Notes

The mark on the bow is identical to that on 'Kuppelmayr No. 508' and 'Berlin Zeughaus Schrenck 133.' The Kuppelmayr is dated 1470-1720.
