Physical Description

Steel bow of rectangular section set through stock by steel girdle which also holds stirrup in position, all secured by transverse cross belt. Thickened fore-end and a steel gutter for the bolts. Brass release nut beneath which stock extends as large projection (for left hand grip) with carved scroll base and inlaid steel reinforcing plates on both sides, in the form of rampant lions, supporting an asymmetrical shell with the initials 'G.R' inside, with shells below and scrolls above. Backward of the nut the stock thins, the top inlaid with of mother-of-pearl, the number '1162' scratched in one inlay. Reinforced with steel at butt to take windlass. Trigger of lever type with baluster moulding, the end bending through ninety degrees to project to the right of the stock to facilitate firing.
