Physical Description

The lock is engraved with the royal cypher and TOWER while the screw-plate is sunk flush with the surface of the stock. The butt is incised with the number XXVI. Upper sling-loop missing.
This is a late example of the musket introduced in 1758 as shown by the presence of an escutcheon plate and by the finial. The buttplate being pinned to the stock instead of being held by a screw (Compare No.XII.85)
