Physical Description

The blade is straight with a short ricasso and is single edged for just over half of its overall length. On the back of the blade is a decorative groove which marks the division between the single-edged and double-edged sections. The blade tapers to a fine point. The grip has a wooden core, bound with wire. The steel pommel is flattened and slightly ovoid, surmounted by a protruding round tang button with a flattened top. There is an engraved spiral pattern on top of the pommel. The hand guard is triangular, flaring at its widest point at the ricasso, where quillons would traditionally be placed, tapering down to a twisted point that curves over the knuckles to meet the pommel, with pierced and chiselled floral designs and linear decoration. The dagger has no quillons.
