The following have similar hilts: IX.1776, IX.1835, IX.2616 (different pommel and no radiating lines on the shells) and IX.3690. IX.175 has a different hilt but with some similarity to the foregoing group. Others belonging to the group are: two in Wallis and Wallis sale 19/20 August 1980, Lots 917 and 918 (illus. in cat., Pl. 22).
in the Welsh Folk Museum, St Fagans, Reg. No. 31 78 48; one on loan from a private owner to the City Museum and Art Gallery, Worcester, in Nov. 1980 (photos of both are in the R.A. Photo Library). A note (in GMW's hand) on the IBE for IX.1835 says that an almost identical one was brought in by Andrew Lumley (dealer) in 1982.
