Physical Description

Brass hilt consisting of an oval, domed pommel-cap, knuckle-guard of oval section pegged into the grip (pommel? - CHK) and bellied at its mid-point, straight rear quillon with lobate finial. The shell-guard, with an edge in relief on both sides, is semi-circular outside the hand where it inclines towards the blade, and has an ogival point inside the hand where it inclines towards the pommel. There is a rectangular border in relief around the blade. The shell is at present inverted and turned around. The grip is covered in tortoise-shell. (CHK - grip not mentioned in IBE)


Straight, single-edged, spear-pointed blade with a broad fuller on each side for its full length. Blade possibly associated.
