Physical Description

The steel half-basket hilt with pierced floral decoration and pommel cap. Two small sword-knot slots are at the rear of the grip. The guard terminates in a wide scrolled quillon, on which is stamped '20'. The stepped back-piece has a metal plate at the lower end on which to rest the thumb during fencing practice. The wooden grip is covered in fish skin and bound with silver wire.
The blade is single-edged and curved and is stamped at the forte 'STLEBRAL & FROMEL'
