Physical Description

Hilt: Brass, consisting of knuckle guard with two side branches and a rear quillon turned towards the blade. The cap pommel is extended to form a backstrap to the grip, the lower end of which is secured by a lower ferrule. There are two oval langets projecting from the cross guard/stool of the hilt. Deeply ribbed grip fitted with a brass escutcheon at its centre


Blade: Curved, single edged with a false edge extending approximately 125 mm (5 ins) from the point. The back of the blade, close to the hilt, is inscribed:
'M'f'ture Imp'le du Klingenthal aout 1813'.
