Physical Description

Brass hilt, consisting of round, urn-shaped pommel, double shell guard, knuckle bow with three scroll bars on either side forming an open basket. The two larger bars on each side are later additions (note in A.V.B. Norman's hand). Several of the side bars have been broken and repaired. Rear quillon missing.


Straight back-edged blade, the back sharpened for 200 mm from the point. Etched and gilt at the forte with decorative patterns and a crowned GR mopngram. An inscription reads GOD BLAES KING GEORGE / AND HIS RAGEL FAMILIE.


The hilt is English, the blade probably French or German.
