Acquired by transfer from Rotunda Museum of Artillery, Woolwich, 1978.

Physical Description

Hilt: brass; cap pommel with flattened ovoid tang button; knuckle guard with 2 branches, the centre branch connecting knuckle guard and outer branch diagonally. Small, flat, diamond shaped shell guard with broad, flat, rear quillon turned towards the blade. Wooden grip covered with leather (both damaged).


Blade: slightly curved, single edged, with single broad fuller.

Inscriptions and Marks

Hilt: stamped on outside of guard with Rotunda number and 'Diorard'Blade: stamped with 'B' with cap and 'M K'.
