Physical Description

Brass hilt, with pommel in form of lion's head. Grip covered in fish skin, with strip of brass inlaid on outer side, cast with a scene of a dog chasing a stag. At the base of the grip is a brass collar, bearing dogs and birds. Quillon block is cast with a dog and a boar; the quillons are of baluster from, the forward forming a screwdriver, the rear a hammer head. Very small brass shell, cast on both faces with hunting scenes.


Straight single-edged blade, deeply etched at the forte with a panel bearing foliage and strapwork against a blackened ground. Beyond this panel is an etched and gilt lion between two trees.
