Notes

Samuel Eccles, originally a modeller in the Inspector of Artillery's Department. His system was one of the four selected for the final regimental trials in 1835. In March 1836 twenty of each type were issued in groups of four to the 52nd at Gibralter, 80th at Chatham, 85th in Canada and to the 12th and 33rd in Dublin.
Eccles was foreman of the Royal Brass Foundry at Woolwich, retiring in 1855. (W.O.47/2755. p.1511).
