Notes

When found in store, about 1990, it bore a lable (in Nicola Moyle's hand?) 'Returned from TL 1985/4 Reading Museum?'. According to the loan file the only swords in the loan were a British infantry officer's sword pattern 1822 with a pattern 1845 blade (then IX.2647, but since reverted to its original number of IX.397) and a British naval officer's sword pattern 1847 (IX.2648), but the sword-knot does not seem likely to belong to either of these.
