DATING NEEDS REVISION (PJL)
Steel swept hilt consisting of knuckle-bow which branches near its centre to form two counter-guards; ecusson; straight quillons swelling towards their ends; pas d'ane [now called arms of the hilt], the ring filled by a small pierced shell; loops; two side rings. All the bars are of round section. Wire bound grip, urn-shaped pommel with tang button. Straight blade of flattened hexagonal section inscribed in a fuller at the forte 'ME FECIT' on one face and VALENCIA on the other.
