This item is not as recorded int the index cards nor as on 'Additions to the Armouries after 1916'. The descrition in both of these records is of an Officers' shako, 'The Kings Own L.I. Militia' presented by Miss C.E. Bensted, 1936. To the interior of the crown is glued a maker's label inscribed:- Carter-Hatter and cap maker to the King and Queen, the Dukes of Cumberland, Cambridge, Prince Coburg and the two Princes George, 56 Pall Mall. This was transferred to the National Army Museum, September 1966, and in no. 6609-10
