Physical Description

The breastplate has a raised neck, a medial keel terminating in a point at the waist and a narrow flange. The arm and neck edges have plain inward turns. At either side of the chest is a mushroom-headed stud for the shoulder straps. At the left is a proof mark. It is painted black. A suspension hole has been drilled at either shoulder.

Inscriptions and Marks

Struck at the neck with a maker's mark, probably WF and also the Cross of St George. Inside at the right is a construction mark, XX and a wedge.
