Presented by Mr F.H. Cripps-Day, 1941. One of a number of similar helmets believed to have been ordered to equip the troops of the Armada invasion. See also IV.449, IV.451 and IV.452. Obtained by Fenton from Spain.

Physical Description

Made in one piece with a high roped comb, the brim turned down at the sides and rising to a peak at front and rear. the main edges have roped inward turns bordered by a narrow recessed band. Round the base of the skull is a series of lining rivets with brass rosette washers. The helmet retains its original blued finish.
