Physical Description

The neck is slightly raised, the sides straight, angled to form a point at the front. Plain inward turns bordered by lining rivets. At the right is a keyhole slot. The borders and the centres of the raised panels are decorated with punched and incised ornament including elements of armour, drums and vegetation. There is slight damage to the point of the neck, and a pierced hole at the left corner.

Probably from a Greenwich pikeman's armour of high quality. Comparable decoration is found on the tassets, III.1843 and the gorget III.1420.
