Physical Description

It is cast in one with the platform and supporting bracket and has a constricted powder chamber. The platform is rectangular with moulded edges and pierced with four holes for bolting it to a wooden bed. Below the vent is stamped No.8 and on the platfrom No.8 PD. The bracket is stamped PD 229 and the chase with a mark, possibly a foundry stamp. There is a single plain transverse dolphin. The edge of the muzzle is stamped 2 0 20, probably the weight
