Transferred from the Rotunda Museum of Artillery, Woolwich, 1927. From Rhodes, acquired by Sir J Lefroy 1867.

Physical Description

For the right leg, shaped to the shin, with a prominent medial ridge and slight muscle bulge on the inside. The upper edge is straight and plain, and the lower inwardly turned over wire, with chiselled roping, and dipping down over the outside of the ankles. At either side of the upper edge is a turning-pin for the attachment of the poleyn. At the top and bottom of the outer edge is a modern, dome-headed rivet, where the missing hinges were attached. Atop the inner edge is an original dome-headed rivet, and at the bottom a modern buckle.


The lower edge is bordered by a shallow etched band of scrolling foliage on a gilt ground. scrolling foliage of a gilt ground.
