Physical Description

Hilt of cast, gilt silver consisting of grip, knuckle-guard, short quillon and solid shell, turned towards the blade and with decoratively cut edges. The quillon block, shell and grip are decorated with hunting trophies, weapons and equipment in low relief.
Straight, heavy, single-edged blade, etched and gilt on both faces (CHK) with hunting scenes and the Royal arms of France (modern) crowned and enrircled by the collar of the Order of the Holy Spirit. The back of the blade etched and gilt: 'MANUFACTURE + ROYALE + D'ALSACE + ANNO + 1733'.
