Of peascod form, with a broad flange at the waist and roped inward turns.

associated with the backplate III.1695. The two were sold at some stage; A cutting from the catalogue is attached inside the breastplate: 'Lot 22. Half suit of armour... a burgonet... stamped EH.. breastplate...stamped EX/S and a backplate...from another suit...These three pieces are said to have come from the Chapel at Farley Castle, Hungerford' Compare III.1160 given by Cripps-Day from the same provenance, and one from the Williams collection, sold Sotheby's 15 October 1974, lot 30 (formerly Fenton, Sotheby's 16 July 1936, lot 466).
