Purchased at auction from Christie's, London, on 26th April 2012 (sale 5169, Art of the Islamic and Indian Worlds, lot 215). From the collection of a Danish diplomat, sold at auction in Copenhagen about 1970. English private collection.

Physical Description

Watered steel single-edged blade with three engraved gutters with gold overlay floral decoration above the piont and on the forte, with inscription on verso in nasta'liq, ox-horn hilt with three pins with filigree decoration and gilded knops, the back with silver coins, join in grip with studded border, leather covered wooden sheath with filigree and silver repousse floral decorated fittings, the back with engraved horseman on top fitting, with leather belt attachments.
