Presented on 12 June 2012.Donor inherited these objects from her Aunt, a Mrs Hilda Mary Burkitt, who died in England in 1980. Hilda Burkitt travelled very widely; she worked for the Foreign Office 1941-1967 and had postings to Lisbon, Paris, Bern, the Hague, Cyprus and Australia. She also worked in London. She married Mr Geoffrey Hill in 1967, and stopped work, but spent time with her husband in Ethiopia and Iran where he worked as a businessman. After his death she moved back to the UK, to Dorset. She went on numerous shell-collecting holidays to the Philippines, Morocco and Indonesia, where the donor believes she probably acquired these objects as souvenirs A Tibetan purbhu from the same collection was acquired by Leeds Museums.
