Re-accessioned from Middle Flint Tower, 1987. Probably from one of the armours formerly on loan 7 to Dover Castle (II.53-62) from Malta, 1826.

Physical Description

Formed of a cuff, linked by four metacarpal plates through a roed knuckle plate to four finger-defences and a thumb-defence. The edge of the cuff is decorated with a roped turn acaompanied by a recessed border. It is pierced with a hole on the inside of the wrist. The metacarpal plaes are decorated with single incised lines.

Inscriptions and Marks

The wrist of the cuff and each of the metacarpal plates are marked, inside, with five V-shaped notches. They are also marked, sucessively, I, II, III, IIII, and V.
