Physical Description

Comprising a cuff and two metacarpal lames.
The cuff is flared, with a medial ridge, and angled obliquely to be higher on the outside. It is of one piece, joined on the inside by two rivets with large, flat internal heads. The main edge has a flattened, flange-like inward turn; below this is a line of flush lining rivets of which seven survive. At the front of the lower edge the cuff is broadly embossed for the thumb, and traces of the rivet holes for the thumb plates survive. The lower edge is cut away on the inside.

The two metacarpal lames, which overlap towards the cuff, are narrow and of even width, with very slight swellings at the articulating rivets to either side. Inside the articulating points, the lames are boxed at either side. The lower edge of the cuff is corroded at the thumb.
