Purchased at auction, Sotheby's, 9 June 1950 lot 103. From the collections of the Earl of Londesborough, E J Brett and Lord Swaything.

Physical Description

The tassets are composed of 19 lames with poleyns of three lames with a short pointed plate balow,shaped to the knee. The tassets can be shortened at the tenth lame, the lower section being attached by turning pins and studs in keyhole slots. The surface is blued with gilt bands edging all the plates with the addition of three broader vertical bancds on the cuirass and culet and single bands running down the outside of the armpieces and the centre of the tassets. The stell rivets used throughout have gilt heads. All the straps are original and are faced with red velvet.
