Old Tower collection. Probably transferred from the Palace at Greenwich about 1649.

Physical Description

Pointed, belled cuff, the inner side of the wrist protected by two lames, the uppermost curving up over the base of the thumb. Five metacarpal plates, to the fourth of which is attached the thumb defence. The finger defences of five lames each fastened to the lobed knuckle plate. Each plate is decorated with double incised lines. The lining and articulating rivets are of steel capped with brass. Main edges have plain inward turns, subsidiary edges bordered by double incised lines.
