Old Tower Collection. Bequeathed by Sir John Smythe to James I in 1607, at Greenwich in 1611, brought to the Tower in 1649, sent to Windsor Castle in 1686 and returned to Tower in 1914.

Physical Description

Consisting of cuirass and tassets very similar to those of number II.84. Breastplate of peascod form, single faudplate, tassets of six lames with removable extensions of seven lames ending in poleyns.


Dimensions: Height as mounted 1800mm, actual crest to knee 1330mm, width 800mm
