Physical Description

The pot is made in two pieces joined in a low comb and with a broad brim. The main edge has a plain inward turn with a recessed border originally containing 14 round-headed lining rivets with square washers, one missing to make a suspension hole at the front. The based of the skull is bordered by 14 rivets of which 2 at either side retain modern cheekpiece leathers. At the rear is a plain plume holder. The surface is painted black. Modern restored cheekpieces are fitted.
