The skull is made in two pieces joined in a low comb. The pivoted peak is narrow and flat, with a triple bar faceguard. The main edges have plain inward turns, bordered on the neckguard by nine round headed lining rivets and by five flush rivets round the front of the skull. The cheekpieces are original but associated, of asymmetrical round-bottomed type on modern leathers. The surface is black from the hammer, covered inside with thick paint.
