Physical Description

A crudely cut piece of fretwork, cut and incised to depict a crenellated gatehouse and an adjoining blackened ruin. The sky above depicted with a blue and white wash on paper. Mounted in a rustic 'twig' effect frame. Possibly an amateur attempt to represent the ruins of the Grand Storehouse, perhaps even utilizing wooden fragments salvaged from the debris. Vendor stated the frame once had an old hand-written label on the back which read 'Grand Storehouse Tower of London Opened 1694. Destroyed by fire 30th October 1841 Waterloo Barracks Built on site in 1845'.
