Physical Description

Of iron, the sides are straight and of D section, with a short round section neck divided into a rowel box holding a small fourteen pointed star rowel. At the end of either side is a triple lobed terminal, each lobe pierced with a hole. The front holes hold an iron strap to pass under the sole, attached by strap hooks. The largest lobe is decorated with three sets of double incised lines. The surface is patinated and pitted. The rowel is missing the tips of several points and its central hole has almost corroded out.
