Physical Description

Of iron, with flattened D section sides curving under the wearer's ankle, rising to the rear where there is a very short oval section neck dividing almost immediately into a rowel box holding a medium sized eight pointed star rowel. At the end of either side is a figure 8 terminal. The surface is patinated dark brown, part of the upper left hole is extended, the tips of several of the rowel points are damaged and there are various chips on the edges, all covered with thick lacquer.
