First registered 29 June 2004 following return from loan to the Australian War Memorial [museum] (reg. no. 961), being the remains of one of the Loans to the Dominions, sent out in 1921.

Physical Description

The skull is made in two pieces joined in a flat seam. At the left are two and the right one rivet hole for the missing peak. The neckguard is of one piece, embossed to simulate three lames. The main edge of the skull is plain, and has been trimmed as it cuts through a series of rivet holes. That of the tail has a plain inward turn, and is bordered by 9 original lining rivets with square washers retaining almost complete the canvas lining band. The front of the skull is bordered by 11 such rivets, three at either side for the leathers of the missing cheekpieces. The exterior is painted black.
