Physical Description

A pre-war manufactured springfield Model 1903, with blued receiver and barrel, polished and blued bolt and full stock. The rifle has been used for target shooting and has a micro-adjustable target sight fitted on the right side of the receiver, althoug the rear latter and front blade sights are also fitted. The front blade is a thicker than standard type for use with such aperture rearsights. An 8 power Unertl telescopic sight is fitted over the bore, mounted on two steel blocks, one above the receiver and the other just forward of the breech. To permit this, the wooden topcover had been machined away and inlet for the block. The scope is long and blued with alarge diameter range- adjsutable objective end, and smaller ocular lens. The scope is of a sliding pattern that runs forward with recoil, and is returned to battery by a large spring that sits externally in the centre of the scope body. The large adjutster drums for windage and elevation are green in colour and appear to have been coated in a non-reflecting laquer.
