Physical Description

A war production Springfield rifle, with Mauser bolt action, heavyweight target barrel and 'C' type wooden stock. The barrel has no foresight, and there is no rearsight fitted. There is a Patt.330 Telescopic sight fitted overt he action by means of a Redfield base and commercial-type screw mounts. This is the early Weaver commercial scope that was subsequently modified to become the M82/84 pattern. The base is screwed to the charger bridge and rear of the breech. The scope is a military variant of the Weaver and is blued, with distinctive rubber weather covers over the windage and elevation drums. The barrel and receiver are finished in a green phosphate coating, while the bolt is polished and blued. The stock is one piece walnut. Front and rear sling swivels are fitted.

Notes

Some fake 1903-A4 rifles exist, but genuine examples have the manufacturers stamps upside down on the receiver, as does this example.
