See D.N.B. for biographical notes. Sir George Pollock (1786-1872) made his military reputation in Afghanistan in 1842. Died at Walmer 6 Oct. 1872 and buried in Westminster Abbey. His medals, icluding the Order of the Bath and the Star of India, were sold at auction by Dix, Noonan, Webb on 2 March 2005, hammer price £20,000, from the Brian Ritchie Collection.
