Physical Description

The blade is of waved form showing no trace of striations or mixed metal. At the base is a sunk panel each side that extends into a short groove that follows the shape of the blade. It is fitted with a collar (mendak) of filigree gilded copper. The hilt itself is of polished wood in a stylised version of Garuda. The scabbard is in two pieces, the upper boat shaped piece has one side almost square, the other curved. The lower part is plain with a wooden chape, a brass band separating the two parts.

Dimensions: The length of the blade is 337 mm, the overall length of the kris being 425 mm and the scabbard 380 mm. Weight: The weight of the kris is 0.285 kg, the scabbard 0.196 kg.
