Physical Description

Iron. The overall shape of this sukashi tsuba is approximately square with rounded corners (nada kaku gata). The outer rim is rounded, maru mimi. The kokgai hitsu is defined by a shaped bar, independent of the design, the kozuka hitsu being defined by a curved bar forming part of the design. The subject is breaking waves, pierced without any real modelling but engraved on both sides with lines to suggest the flow of water. The seppa dai is not defined other than by an absence of engraving.

Dimensions: The thickness of the tsuba is 6 mm, the height is 78 mm, the width being 65 mm. Weight: The weight of the tsuba is 0.106 kg.
