Physical Description

Of siege weight, made in two sections, an upper short tasset of three lames, and a lower extension of four lames. The sections are joined by a stud and keyhole slot at the outside, and a turning pin at the inside. The lower edge of the upper section is scalloped. The lames are articulated by sliding rivets at the outside, and modern leathers at the centre and inside. The main edges have plain inward turns bordered by decorative rivets or vacant rivet holes. All parts are decorated with engraved vertical bands with three pairs of double incised lines, and transverse bands of recessed scallops, all retaining some or all of their original gilding. The top lame is fitted with three modern gilt buckles matching those on the pauldrons.
