Physical Description

Lignum Vitae presentation truncheon. Dark brown varnished wood. Circular section broadening towards the flattened tip. Towards the base there are four broad grooves to form a grip and a bulbous terminal. Light brown narrow leather wrist strap which passes round the narrow section of the truncheon and is secured by stitching.
Condition on Acquisition: Good.

Inscriptions and Marks

At the top: crowned GR. beneath, coat of arms with the motto 'ARTE ET LABORE'. Beneath this, inscribed on a scroll, 'BLACKBURN' and 'SPECIAL CONSTABLE 1914-1919'.
