Physical Description

The D20 uses the same carriage as the D-74 which is a split trail box-section. There are two jockey wheels on the trails to ease positioning. The gun has a vertical sliding breech with protective shield and firing platform. The platform, once lowered allows the gun to be traversed through 360 degrees in much the same way as the British 25 pounder

Notes

The D20 was designed by the FF Petrov Design Bureau and was introduced into Soviet service in 1955, hence it was known as the M-55. The Chinese directly copied the gun and called it the type 66. Ammunition is separate loading and can be high explosive, armour-piercing or concrete piercing.
