Physical Description

Made in one piece with a medial ridge, the sides, peak and tail flaring gently from base of skull. Main edge has a plain boxed inward-turn over wire bordered by a series of brass capped iron decorativer rivets. Around base of skull is another set of these rivets and either side a pair of rivets for the chin-strap. All the rivets are probably 17th century replacements. THe hammer work on the interior is extremely rough and the edge is broken away in places. The exterior is polished bright.
