Physical Description

A very large butcher's style knife.

The handle is formed of two rosewood or cocobola scales, shaped to the hand on the forward side, and attached through the tang by three stainless steel rivets. The tang is exposed along the back of the handle.

Both edges of the blade are almost straight and parallel for three-quarters of their length before the forward edge curves round to the tip (which is almost in line with the back edge of the blade) and the back edge curves out and then round to meet the tip.

Inscriptions and Marks

On inside of blade, large maker's mark, etched: within an oval frame, an eagle with a branch in its beak against a mountainous landscape. On the panel under the eagle, 'VICTORINOX'; below the same panel, 'STAINLESS STEEL'; above the right end of the panel, 'EXTRA QUALITY'; and round the lower border, 'MADE IN SWITZERLAND'.On inside of blade, to right of large mark, a smaller mark, etched: a crossbow.
