Physical Description

The boss itself is struck, from brass, in the form of three circles, two small ones above and below a larger one. The circles are dished outwards. The smaller circles have a border. The larger circle has a border in which is seen the words PENINSULA and WATERLOO in relief. In the centre of the larger circle is a crowned lion standing on a Tudor crown. Two copper rods for mounting have been soldered or low temperature brazed to the backs of the small circles for mounting.

Inscriptions and Marks

A working pattern tag for pattern 6251 (DA 0200) has been attached with a wax seal mounted on woolen cloth which records many inspections of which the earliest deciypherable is 1958. The standard pattern tag for pattern 6251, catalogue no. 3770-99-429-4928 (DA 0200) is secured by a lead seal. It records issue to Hobson and Sons (London) Ltd. 28/8/77
