Physical Description

Formed of nickel, with straight sides and a swan neck with a circular rowel. At the centre is a short steel spike for attachment to the box in the boot, and at the ends of the sides are screwed spikes which secure the spur to the sides of the boot heel. Attached is the original sealed pattern tag, which is creased and faded almost to illegibility, but has the sealing date. The red wax seal is attached, on a square of black fabric. The resealed tag of 1968 is also attached. pattern tag.

Inscriptions and Marks

The resealed pattern tag for pattern 11038 , catalogue no. 8465-99-975-1579 (CP 2896), is secured by a lead seal. It records issues in 1972 and 1978.
