Excavated from the foreshore of the River Thames at Custom House Quay, about 1992, by Ken Bellringer and Mike Read, Mudlarks.

Physical Description

Octagonal-section tapered barrel in excavated condition, the breech tang broken off behind the screw hole. The open end of the barrel is broken off cleanly at a slight angle, with some loss of metal by corrosion. Covered overall with an even quite rough brown patination, with a gathering of concretion around the breech hut.
