Physical Description

Of deep conical form, the upper end flanged for attachment to the lance. The lower edge has 19 elliptical flanged indentations. A hole is pierced between each, for the lining rivets. The lower part of three iron rivets survive, two of which, grouped in a pair, are secured internally by later circular iron washers. One hole further to the right is a similar broken rivet, the washer now missing. Approximately 4 cm. below the upper edge are three pairs of equidistantly spaced rivet holes for attachment to the lance shaft.

The surface has broken out between the upper edge and one pair of rivets, being repaired internally by an irregular brazed plate secured by six externally-flush rivets. Below, the metal has split for a short distance.
Externally bright.
